Coming face to face with the shy endangered Mountain Gorillas is an experience to remember for the rest of your life.
You will be tempted by the appearance and intelligence of these ground dwelling apes.
At Gorilla Photography & Conservation, its our pleasure to offer you a grand chance to join our Gorilla Photo trip to Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo.
While on this trip, expect to trek deep into the Jungle via trails that wind through thickest bushes for the first incredible sight of the Silver-back gorilla or other members of the Gorilla family.
You are usually led by an experienced ranger guide who is to ensure that you come out with pretty images of these apes that are worth your money paid.
For photography, it’s advised you choose Gorilla habituation to get more time of taking plenty of photos of these creatures and videos – with this experience, you can also take photos at different location since you usually follow the movements of the Gorillas in the Jungles.
For Gorilla trekking, only one hour is allowed while in the presence of Gorillas, this seems to be limited time for a photographer.
If possible you can do a double Gorilla trek – with this, time can be enough and at-least you will collect a lot of photos.
During the one hour, you will see the giant Silver-back and other family members feeding, playing, laughing, swinging from the trees and more.
You must buy a permit and money collected from permit sales supports in conserving the lives of the Gorillas and their habitats.
Equipment required & Clothing:
For camera types, the most important thing to consider is weight and quality. There is an option of hiring a porter during the trek but still you need to keep your backpack very light.
With a 7m distance kept from the Mountain Gorillas, a 70-200mm lens is perfect to take clear photos. A 2.8 lens is even more better as in sometimes there is limited light deep in the forest. A mono-pod is more recommended than a tripod.
Since rainfall is unpredictable, it is advised you come with good rain gears like waterproof bags and jackets to protect your camera and your self from rain waters.
Cameras with flush are not allowed and make sure you come with extra storage cards, batteries not to mention the charger and top plugs.
In terms of clothing, choose the light ones – water proof. Trousers and long sleeved shirts are perfect to protect your legs and hands from scratches.
Pack strong hiking shoes that can afford passing through mud and rugged terrains. On that, add on long shocks, insect repellents, hat, gloves and sunglasses.
