The only trustable Uganda car rental agency for great tour holidays is 4×4 Car Rental Uganda. I planned to visit Uganda one year ago but this was a hard activity which i couldn’t do alone. Since i was not financially stable, i contacted my colleagues and we raised some money for a budget tour. But we had to contact some service providers in Uganda to help us organize this tour and 4×4 Car Hire Uganda was our first priority and we didn’t regret with their services.
We contacted Jackie a tour consultant who gave us advice and also drafted us a nice and flexible budget which she sent us through the company e-mail. We agreed even on the type of the car we were to rent, this was a super custom which we got at $70 per day excluding fuel. We were promised all the spares parts that were to act as emergence rescue tools. She reserved us some budget lodges from the different national parks we wanted to visit, due to the fact that we had no enough money, we decided to go for a self drive.
We arranged all our driving license and on Saturday night we were at Entebbe airport, the truth is we were rendered all the services we had paid for, we were given our receipts and visas were acquired from the airport on arrival. This holiday was super since we wanted to pass through Uganda and then to DRC Congo for mountain Nyiragongo climbing. In Uganda we were interested in visiting Queen Elizabeth National Park due to what we referred to as rumour by then that this park has tree “climbing lions”.
All my colleagues had refused this since for us in our country we had never seen those climbing trees like monkeys. On reaching the park in the western Uganda using Fort-Portal road approximately 6hours journey, we were requested to pay a park entrance fee for our vehicle of $12 USD which we paid from there. But specifically our major activity was a guided game drive by the UWA guides at $20 per drive which we had paid prior before visiting Uganda.
Having reached in the afternoon hours, we got a chance since we were told that these lions can be best seen in the afternoon hours due to the stunning sunshine within the park. But before we had some lunch from Ishasha Jungle Lodge where we paid $70 USD per person per night. This worked for us since even the tree climbing lions are found this side. Our super custom had an open roof which gave us an added advantage to view a range of wild animals within the park.
We didn’t take much time since we were in their time of resting, as we were driving, we observed them at a distant range we prompted us to take photos and most of my colleagues who were arguing about this were left speechless after seeing the lions up in fig trees busy taking a resting moment!!!!!, every person wondered how they made it not until we saw one lion using its tactics to climb one of the tree that was nearing us. In fact this holiday was full of amazing things.
In the evening we went back to Ishasha Jungle Lodge for an overnight, on the next day early in the morning we drove our van to Rwanda Boarder where we used the Gisenyi boarder and stayed at Gisenyi Guest House, where Moses had booked for us to stay and arranged with them to keep our car and from there we entered DRC Congo for mountain Nyiragongo hiking, gorilla trek and Chimpanzee habituation as well as staying at Mikeno Lodge a super luxury lodge in Virunga which we opted at the place in Virunga National park, but before entering DRC Congo we were given maximum security at the border which guaranteed us safety while in the park.
Mountain Nyiragongo is one of the history makers on the Africa’s continent due to its everlasting volcanic activities hence rendering to it being an Africa’s remaining active volcano. This summarizes all the works of the remaining extinct volcanoes. We experienced this through our budget safari holiday we made to DRC Congo after Uganda which was to last for ten days.
After crossing through Gisenyi border to DRC Congo here we staged at Mikeno lodge where we made arrangements including food and all others equipments like jackets, gumboots. And since we had no time to prepare meals, we decided to buy a Mikeno food package and we also hired porters who lifted our items. At night before the real next day of mountaineering while at the lodge we were surprised to see the reddish sky that was formed by the active lava hence providing light up in the sky.
The next day in the morning due to the inspiration we got at night by this mountain in the Virunga National park, we decided also to climb it the next day which made us observe this amazing mountain physically at night up on its summit .We started our journey from Kibati Patrol post at 10am with game rangers at an elevation of 1989m (6,525 ft) and we ascended to the summit at 3470m (11,382ft), We passed through the forested slopes of the mountain and this took us over 5 hours climbing.
While climbing, we watched chimpanzees, water bucks and monkeys which were an added exciting phenomenon to our tour. We spent an overnight on the summit of the volcano, this gave us a chance of having a sight of other volcanoes within the same area and while at night, the highly active mountain gave us a nice experience due to the continuous boiling magma and silent eruptions deep in the crater.
We slept in the shelters that were built on the mountain but it was too cold during the wee hours. At around 7am the next day, we descended down the slopes through the rocks within the paths up to Kibati patrol post for signing out. On that very day we never went back to Uganda since we were too tired and this made us stay around Mikeno Lodge where we based the next day to go back to Uganda. We drove but it was extremely enjoying since we had to drive while sober from the Logistic Manager advice.
We spent a full day while on the way but nothing we had to hand over the car to the company plus all other tools that were given to us before our budget holiday, we slept at Malaika Eco Lodge at Kajanzi along Entebbe road where we based to go to the airport the next day for our flight back to Argentina but it was full of wonders though budgeted.
