A photo safari is a special experience! Long days, many animals, changing weather, variable geography and differing environments all offer excellent opportunities for great photography experience. It is only with Nature Adventure Uganda that the excellent opportunities of photography are attained.
To trek into the rain forest and sit with a family of wild mountain gorillas, looking into the eyes of a huge silver back at close range, watching babies cling to their mothers, laughing at youngsters playing in the trees, is a life-enhancing experience for a wildlife lover. To capture amazing photographs of such encounters allows you to relive these rare moments in enduring images.
Our Expedition Leader is both a primate naturalist and accomplished photographer, whose expertise on both fronts will help you go home with photos you could only dream of beforehand. Your visit to endangered mountain gorillas and other primates in their natural habitat in Uganda may also be a life-changing experience for them, as ecotourism is the main hope for protecting their future. While gorillas are our focus, no nature photographer should come to Africa without a chance to capture images of its iconic big wildlife such as elephants, zebra, giraffe, lions and more.
Our itinerary is designed to include the best of both: primates plus general wildlife viewing, on forest treks, wildlife drives and a boat cruise, in diverse and highly scenic terrain.
Nothing is more critical to getting the best possible photos than a guaranteed window seat on board the highest-quality safari trucks. And, unlike companies that crowd guests into pop-top mini-buses or ill-designed vans, we use 4×4 car rental safari vehicles designed for the bush, with features that enhance photography such as multiple roof hatches.
There’s no way around it—central Africa has some pretty rough roads—so full 4-wheel-drive capacity with the highest-quality suspension are key features of our vehicles. Where you stay on safari makes a big difference to your overall experience. That’s why we use small, intimate camps and lodges in remote areas wherever possible.
As a traveler focused on photography you’ll be pleased to know that we choose our locations for their scenic settings, natural ambience and proximity to wildlife—a big contrast to large lodges in busy areas where hundreds of tourists congregate. Scenic drives between safari locations, allowing us to photograph the countryside and people in view along the roadside. And, crucially important, driving also allows for maximum photo equipment allowances, which may be restricted on small planes with tight weight limits. Book with us to avoid regretting.
